Overall Rating:

The new Tamron SP AF28-75mm f/2.8 XR LD Aspherical [IF] Macro utilises the XR size-reduction technology developed for the AF28-200mm XR Super Zoom (Model A03) and AF28-300 XR Ultra Zoom (Model A06) to create a fast standard zoom lens. Furthermore, the XR design contributes to the lens almost unbelievably compact size for a lens of this type featuring a filter diameter of 67mm, maximum diameter of 73mm (2.9"), and length of only 92mm (3.6"). And at only 510g (17.99 oz), the image of fast standard zooms as heavy and cumbersome is turned on its head. This lens represents the first in a new category - a fast standard zoom that can be used comfortably as the lens regularly attached to a camera body. In addition, to meet the needs of this dual-format (film and digital) world, the optical system of the lens is designed to provide optimum performance when used with the latest digital SLR cameras.

Age of Empires III The War Chiefs: A nice but minimal expansion - by Gr8ful
Pros: Adds three new cultures and some new units and features
Cons: Not worth $39.99 (get it used for $20 or less)
Bottom Line: The expansion is decent but not great. It does add value to the game and a little more playing time but nothing really big or much different.
Review: UPDATE 1/3/2008 - Please Note: I have moved this review several times back to its proper location and Epinions keeps on misplacing it in the wrong categories. I am moving it this one last time and then I REFUSE to move it anymore. If you... (more)
Expensive results from a cheap package - by amstel78
Pros: Light, fast, color and contrast excellent
Cons: Minor corner softness wide open
Bottom Line: Excellent value with image quality rivaling Canon's 24-70L
Review: Introduction: As a working professional, the hunt for the perfect capture is a never ending process. As much as I hate reviewing and searching for equipment (I would rather be out shooting), it's a part of life when the quality of your images... (more)
if you could have only 1 lens - by pawtraitp
Pros: Solid build, quality images, FAST
Cons: wish it were 18-75 same speed
Bottom Line: If you could have only one lens and had to live it every day - this is it
Review: Tamron XR DI 28-75. I was looking for a general purpose lens to keep on a Canon 20D body most of the time. My requirements were, slight wide angle to short telephoto. Medium weight, nothing too heavy, but not something flimsy either. Fast, had to be a... (more)
Very sharp, light, bargain price. - by zero74
Pros: Sharp, f2.8, light, 1/3 the price of canon L glass
Cons: Auto focus may search in low light, could be a little bit wider.
Review: A lot of people compare this lens to the more expensive canon 24-70 f2.8 L which cost 3 times as much as this lens. Having never used L glass I can make no such comparison. I can say my experience with this lens has been excellent. This lens produces... (more)
Excellent For The Price - by billdoss
Pros: The performance is worth way more than the price.
Cons: It doesn't use a standard alkaline battery, rather it uses a coin type cell.
Review: I bought this rangefinder to replace a lost Bushnell model. The 440 is awesome. On closer ranges it will actually split and indicate the 1/2 yard. I mainly use it for hunting. I tried some experiments ranging known targets from my stand. I checked in... (more)
Sharp! Great Lens...but hard to find a good copy. - by spammusubi
Pros: "L" Quality when you get a good copy. Very sharp.
Cons: Known quality issues. Hard to find in local stores to test copies.
Review: I debated between getting this lens versus the more expensive Canon "L" lens equivalent, the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 Lens. I eventually bought the Tamron since all the reviews raved about it. But be warned, all the forums cautioned about bad copies of... (more)
Best buy - by seanmcr6
Pros: Constant 2.8. Light. Fast focus. Perfect everyday lens.
Cons: Not weather sealed. Could have faster focus. That's about it.
Review: This lens is the workhorse lens in my bag. I find it light but solid and it performs flawlessly. Good contrast and sharpness...constant 2.8. It's a usable 2.8 too. I was reluctant to buy a non Canon at first...this was my first non OEM lens purchase. My... (more)
